The Holy Grain of Sound
Quantum Granulator is a powerful live granular processor designed for deep, hands-on sonic manipulation in real-time. At its core, it features two independent recording buffers - each with dedicated controls to adjust record level, clear the buffer, and monitor your chosen input source. Recording can be toggled on and off on the fly, or even modulated, allowing for dynamic sampling and evolving textures in performance or automation. Whether you’re sampling from the Main Input, Sidechain A, or Sidechain B, you’re in full control of what goes in — and what comes out.

What sets Quantum Granulator apart is its flexible and musically responsive approach to grain generation. The grain trigger rate can operate freely in Hz or be tightly synced to your host’s BPM. Depending on the selected mode, randomization behaves differently: in Hz mode, the rate randomization behaves like a geiger counter, adding a bursty, unpredictable character; in BPM sync mode, the grains are dispersed in a more “spray-like” manner, clustered naturally around the beat for rhythmically coherent textures.
Each grain’s length can be specified in milliseconds, BPM divisions, or as a percentage of the trigger rate — giving you both precision and flexibility. Length randomization is tuned with a musical ear, so the results always feel intentional rather than chaotic. The same logic applies to grain offset, which follows the same parameter options (ms, BPM, or relative) and a similarly musical random distribution.
On the harmonic side, Quantum Granulator features an easy-to-use scale picker. You can choose from over 30 built-in scales and chords, build your own by clicking on the virtual keyboard, or generate entirely random scales for creative surprises. Pitch shifting covers a broad ±24 semitone range, and all pitch values are quantized according to the scale you’ve set — even when adding pitch randomization. A separate fine control allows subtle adjustments within ±1 semitone, perfect for microtonal tuning or adding vibrato-like motion.

In addition, Live MIDI mode lets you control the pitch of each grain in real-time via MIDI input. Play notes on your keyboard, trigger sequences, or send MIDI data from any environment — Quantum Granulator will translate that input into live pitch control, opening up even more expressive and interactive performance possibilities.
To shape the grains further, the envelope section uses an intuitive 2D XY control: drag up or down to soften or sharpen the edges, and left or right to skew attack and release times. Level and pan can be controlled per grain, with the option to inject natural variation using their respective randomization controls. These subtle fluctuations add life and depth to even the most static material.
At the end of the signal chain, a high-quality lowpass and highpass filter pair let you sculpt the overall tonal balance. Finally, a dedicated mixing section gives you full control over dry/wet blend, input level, wet signal level, and output volume — so you can easily dial in just the right amount of granular flavor for your mix.
Quantum Granulator isn’t just a tool — it’s an instrument. Built for performers, producers, and sound explorers alike, it offers a deep but immediate interface into the world of granular synthesis, with every detail tuned for musicality and expression.
